258 miles up and traveling 17,150 miles per hour. And we got a full Moon on the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 launch. What a great space day.

Is ‘ flying’ the correct technical term in this context?

“ Falling” is a better term, but when it goes over your head from one horizon to another, I think “flying” works.

Damn you gravity!

very cool -
I know it’s kinda stupid, but I’ve never seen it

All you can see is a very bright point of light hauling ass across the sky. But it’s still cool, knowing what it is and how far away it is and how fast it’s moving . You can find out when it will be visible, and sign up for an alert, by clicking here:

And the SkyView app is fantastic for locating the ISS or just about any other heavenly body.

Hmm.. I got some shots of three of Jupiters moons a few weeks ago, I’ll get I could nab that too. A new project!

It’s moving a bit faster than Jupiter’s moons, but I’d love to see what you get!

That’s a ground speed check to rival an SR-71!

Hah, at the same time I was out wiping the floor with a couple other space industry buddies at K1 Speed GoKarts.
One of them flew to South America for the eclipse. That’s a type of crazy I just don’t get.

My dad has an alarm set he watches it regularly, he's probably seen it dozens of times.

I signed up for email alerts from NASA whoever it flies over my town.

its a pretty amazing concept to ponder when you see it across your night sky

I’m pretty sure I saw the ISS or a big satellite when I was in the Maldives last month. I’ve seen it a few times before, but the sighting always feels special.

Think about how the Americans felt back in 1957 when they saw Sputnik fly overhead.

Would have been crazy seeing your enemy passing over knowing there is nothing you could do about it haha

Exactly.

I read a story the other day about the risks inherent in living on the moon. Not good. Talcum power-fine glass to inhale and smell.

Schoolhouse Rock is the more satisfying of the two.

Not to mention that you have to cart all your water and oxygen all the way to the Moon.

Send POTUS and let him do his tweeting from there. I am dismayed by him.
